Karr Barth Administrators President and CEO Brian M. Sharkey is widely recognized as one of the leading technical experts in the non-qualified benefits industry. Brian began his career in 1979 and joined Karr Barth five years later to provide specialized computer and accounting support for complex Corporate Owned Life Insurance (COLI) plans. This led to the development of the industry's only fully integrated COLI-based asset/liability valuation system, Karr Barth's Auto-Hedge^SM.

Brian's expertise in the complex accounting, legal and tax issues of non-qualified plans, together with his experience in product design and development of prototype proposal and administration systems, have established him as the foremost leader for large-case plan design; Brian has designed programs installed by several Fortune 100 companies.

In addition to his position at Karr Barth, Brian also serves as President and CEO of Equitable Agents Reinsurance Company, an agent-owned reinsurance company dedicated to reinsuring a portion of the risks associated with life insurance policies. He is also a member of Finseca, the Philadelphia Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, and the Society of Financial Service Professionals. Brian was educated at Benjamin Franklin University in Washington, D.C. and completed his MSFS, ChFC, and CLU designations at the American College in Bryn Mawr, PA.

Throughout his more than 30 years with Karr Barth Administrators, Tony has held various senior leadership roles and has led major non-qualified deferred compensation plan conversions and implementations for the firm. Today, he serves as Executive Vice President, Business Development and helps companies adopt and administer innovative executive benefit programs.

Uniquely qualified as an expert in all facets of the business, Tony counsels clients on plan design, funding solutions, administrative processes, and the myriad regulatory, tax, legal and accounting issues associated with non-qualified plans.

Tony earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Georgetown University and the Chartered Life Underwriter^® designation from the American College in Bryn Mawr, PA. He is a member of Finseca and the Society of Financial Service Professionals.

Christian is Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Karr Barth Administrators. As COO, Christian drives operational excellence and digital transformation across Karr Barth's industry-leading administration services, information technology systems, regulatory compliance programs, and people operations. He is a trusted partner for our clients and plan participants, empowering them to achieve their financial goals through well-designed non-qualified deferred compensation plans and well-executed funding strategies.

Prior to Karr Barth, Christian oversaw global operations performance management and analytic discovery for a multinational technology company. In this role he also led cross functional digital transformation initiatives to improve just-in-time supply chain management and harmonize integrated business planning.

Christian graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. As a fellow in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Leaders for Global Operations program, he earned dual master's degrees in business administration and engineering systems.

Ty Sharkey oversees Karr Barth's commitment to ensure accurate, accessible and on-time delivery of daily processing and reporting of plan sponsors and their participants' account activity. As Senior Vice President of Plan Administration, Ty works jointly with Karr Barth's client relationship managers, IT/web developers and plan design teams to deliver customized solutions for clients' non-qualified deferred compensation plans.

With over 30 years of experience at Karr Barth Administrators, Ty has acquired a broad understanding of the unique challenges inherent in accounting, financing and regulatory compliance required for non-qualified deferred compensation plans to be successful for our partners.

Mark Brunner, Vice President of Plan Administration, has over 25 years' experience in all aspects of qualified and non-qualified benefit plans including plan design, regulatory compliance, customer service, operations and marketing.

Before joining Karr Barth in 2002, Mark was a key accounts relationship manager for a large national record keeper in the qualified plan industry. He also established a new qualified plan record keeping department at a mid-sized financial services firm where he was responsible for workflow management, system improvements, creation of marketing material, developing and improving sales programs and client relationship management.

Mark earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from Rowan University and is a candidate for the Chartered Financial Consultant^® accreditation from the American College in Bryn Mawr, PA. He is also a member of the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries.

Wai Kee has served as Vice President of New Business Development since 2006 and is responsible for plan design, funding strategy, and proposal development for non-qualified executive benefit plans. With over 30 years' experience in the design and funding of corporate sponsored executive compensation and benefit plans, he is also extensively involved in the ongoing plan administration activities.

Before joining Karr Barth, Wai Kee served as a senior consultant specializing in complex non-qualified executive compensation and benefit plans, and also as a director at a nationally recognized insurance company specializing in registered and private placement variable life insurance products for major corporations and high-net-worth individuals.

Wai Kee received his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Marketing and Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Management from the University of Mississippi. He is a Certified Financial Planner^® and earned the Chartered Life Underwriter^®, Chartered Financial Consultant^® and Chartered Advisor for Senior Living^® designations from the American College in Bryn Mawr, PA. He also holds the Series 6 and Series 63 General Security registrations.

Brad Dillon is a leading IT professional with over 20 years' experience in computer science. As the Senior IT Director at Karr Barth Administrators, Brad oversees the firm's day-to-day IT operations and leads the development of new applications and business processes.

Brad actively works towards optimizing business processes and facilitating digital transformation within the organization. This is accomplished by coupling his understanding of industry best practices and knowledge of emerging technologies to create and deliver robust solutions for Karr Barth's business initiatives. His dedication to staying ahead of the curve of technological advancements allows Karr Barth to remain at the forefront of IT capabilities, driving success and ensuring a competitive edge. Brad earned a Bachelor of Science degree from West Chester University.

As Senior Director of Web Development, Larry leads the development and maintenance of Karr Barth's web assets. In this role, he serves as the leading digital architect for new client plan installation and oversees continuous updates to existing plan infrastructure.

Throughout his 20-year tenure at Karr Barth, Larry has been hands-on in Karr Barth's technical evolution. He's performed deep analysis on the full spectrum of Karr Barth's technological systems and has guided the development of Karr Barth's participant-facing systems from a Voice Response Unit web application to a standalone full-featured website that is optimized for all devices.

Larry is a native Philadelphian and earned a B.S. degree in Engineering from Villanova University.

Stefanie Bernard oversees human resources, payroll and benefits functions, and other financial affairs, at Karr Barth Administrators. As Corporate Secretary & Treasurer, Stefanie ensures all financial transactions are in accordance with accepted accounting principles and financial policies and maintains corporate records.

Stefanie has over 17 years' experience at Karr Barth. She earned her bachelor's degree in business administration, with a focus in human resource management. Stefanie is also a Pennsylvania Notary Public and certified Project Manager.

Joseph Cloud joined Karr Barth Administrators in 1999 and currently serves as Director of Plan Administration. In this role, Joe leads a team of plan administrators who oversee daily administrative processes for select clients and their plan participants. Joe also manages Karr Barth's internal controls program related to System and Organization Controls 1 (SOC 1) compliance pursuant to standards set forth by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Joe earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from LaSalle University and the Chartered Life Underwriter^® and Chartered Financial Consultant^® designations from the American College in Bryn Mawr, PA. He also holds Series 6 and Series 63 General Security registrations.

As Director of Communications, Ryan oversees Karr Barth's corporate communications, client affairs, and stakeholder engagement initiatives. In this role, Ryan collaborates with clients and Karr Barth's plan administration teams to develop customized enrollment communications and educational pieces for clients' new plans, and coordinates participant outreach before and during enrollment windows. He also leads the firm's external communications programs, which are designed to educate the public and industry stakeholders on deferred compensation plans.

Prior to joining Karr Barth in 2022, Ryan led communications at a national life insurance company and previously managed communications at a financial industry regulator. Ryan received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland, College Park and a Master of Science, Jurisprudence degree from Seton Hall University School of Law.

As Director of Life Claims Administration, Marian works with corporate and individual life insurance beneficiaries to settle life insurance claims for several insurance carriers. Marian leads a team in providing administrative support for life insurance products in connection with corporate executive benefit plans.

Marian joined Karr Barth in 2001 after working as a senior service specialist for a multi lines insurance agency. She is a Fellow with the Life Office Management Association.
